The Sales Funnel For Effective Online Marketing

Apr 26

The sales funnel is a fundamental part of traditional marketing and business for ages. It seems like the topic of funnels in online-based businesses is becoming more popular.

The reality is that folks are eager to learn more about this marketing concept and the best way to apply it to enhance their business online marketing strategies. Continue reading to learn more about the sales funnel to efficient Internet marketing.

The Sales Funnel: What is it?

A marketing funnel isn't an actual funnel. For this marketing concept, "funnel", is used to describe and visualize the entire sales process. It has a broad opening for customers who are known as "Unqualified Prospects" at the top, and a narrower opening for conversion sales at the bottom. It's a good comparison.

People that are "unqualified prospects" are at the top of the funnel. These are people who have never met with you, but might be interested in your product or services. You'll have many opportunities and sales in the future, and you'll also have customers who've purchased your product/service.

Another reason why the idea of a lead generation funnel is effective is because it allows you to monitor your potential prospects actions throughout the sales process. With the sales funnel, through finding out the number of qualified prospects at each point of the process, it is possible to anticipate the number of prospective customers who'll, after a while, become actual customers.

A sales funnel will allow you to see exactly what and where your sales strategy is not working or succeeding or failing, or if your marketing campaign isn't attracting enough potential customers at any point within the process. This information will help you determine what your primary focus is and the best way to keep sales at the right level. It helps monitor and manage the sales process of customers.

The Sales Funnel Top Front - End

The uppermost part of your sales funnel is going to be the most active area of your process and requires the most consistent testing. There are virtually no limits to your creativity or resources in front-end strategies.

The main objective of the front-end is going to be to attract potential clients and turn to buyers later in the selling process.

The prospective client becomes "qualified" once they opt-in or sign up for something you provide. This is when the prospect or "Unqualified Lead" is qualified. This is because they have taken an action that indicates that they may be interested in buying your products or services.

Your front-end must be able drive targeted traffic to your site or blog. Article marketing, PPC ads, social media (Google+ Twitter, Facebook, YouTube), banners and blogging are the most effective ways and tools to accomplish this.

You'll find that there are a variety of tools available that can be used to "qualify" the "Unqualified Prospect". One of the most efficient is the squeeze page. You can provide something of value that is connected to your product/service that people are able to get for no cost or at a reduced price in exchange of their email. The items offered range from video and newsletters to e-mail courses, eBooks as well as related reports.

We can see that the front-end is where customers are drawn to your sales funnel. What about the reverse-end of your sales funnel?

The Bottom of the Funnel or The Back-End

The back-end (or bottom) of the sales channel is where the majority of profits and sales take place. It usually contains your higher priced products. They are usually relevant to the exact same market, but in different formats, like video or audio, live interaction, or private consultation.

The primary distinction between the front-end of the service and the back end is the kind of service or cost of the client.

It is true that only a tiny percentage, perhaps 1-2% of the people who enter your front-end, will be able to make it into your back-end. This is fine, as this tiny segment will be investing more in the long run.

It is clear that although front-end products or services can be priced under $100, back end products and/or services are often priced in the 100s to 1000s. This means that the bottom of the sales channel which is also known as the back-end is the primary source of revenue.

As I mentioned, the sales funnel may be as easy or complex as your imagination or resources permit.
